Light Night

There’s a haunting shadow in my darkness

A reminder of the light

A fear of all the times

Where all the truths are stark

And so I find solstice in my solitude

And hide from the light of the stars

Because what’s the point of dreaming

When you can’t leave the yard

The darkness washes over me

It cloaks me in the night

And I hope and pray that I never have to see the light

The light shows the truth

And it is one I hope not to face

Because sometimes it is easier to hide from what is true

So I’ll shield my eyes and hide my face

Never knowing what was

Because its easier for me to know the night

Than to ever face the light
