Light & Shadow
Sunlight shines through my window,
And the day smiles back at me.
In the wind, trees sway to and fro,
And the grass dances freely.
But the beauty for only so long can last.
As the sun goes down, the moon appears,
And the light that once was fades away,
The stars shine with a song for all to hear.
The night is beautiful in its own way.
But with that unique beauty comes darkness.
As I lie in bed, attempting to sleep,
Scenes of things unseen plague my sight.
Feelings of shadows and whispers begin to creep.
Why won’t these thoughts leave my mind?!
But when there is fear there is comfort.
In the midst of the dark, there is a light.
When I cannot see, He sees
He sends His love to help me fight,
And His loving arms surround me.
And He remains as I sleep.
When the sun rises, and a new day begins,
He stays by my side, and guides me each hour.
And when the night’s darkness comes again,
He is there with mighty love and power.
I love Jesus who is my comforter.
