The Light She Wishes to Reach

The Breeze blows steady, stirring the grass underneath her feet. Several stars look down offering only peace. As nightfall approaches she attempts to complete her feat. The bothersome mosquitoes are having a feast. Each disrupting the harmony of her meadow; She must get rid of these infernal beasts. Cicadas arrive now with the harmonies they bellow; Each disrupting the quiet of her meadow. Overhead a few fireflies circle around, lighting the way to a different kind of peace; One it seems, that she cannot reach. The girl crushed one mosquito at a time, Sang her heart out to deafen the cicadas And reached for her first firefly.
