Light in the Storm

Nobody knows the effects of the dark songs on their souls.

Day after day it’s like no one ever knows,

The constant push and tug,

The pull of strings from the evil one.

They’ve known lies, deception, truth, pain,

But we know it’s not what we gain.

It’s what we give.

It’s what we love.

The uncertainty of life pushing us on.

Every tear stained night brining them through the storm.

It’s what’s in our hearts and in our minds.

“If someone really cared they’d give us some time.”

Let us receive some piece of mind,

To escape the abyss that’s got us thinking about death’s kiss.

No, that’s not what we want it’s not what we need,

It’s not in our souls.

To help, to love, to save others from the cold,

Pulling them away from the grave,

Thinking about the things they could’ve gave.

Unnecessary scars, nights spent alone.

They don’t need it; all they need is a real home.

I don’t want to see lives ruined by the scorn and shame,

Others bring upon us to hide their own pain.

I wanna see lives well lived and people truly loved,

Not having to worry about the things in the past that they’ve done.

So let’s have no more ‘She’s smarter’ or ‘He’s better’,

Because in the end a grade is just a letter.

It’s the people you meet and the things you do,

That’ll give you the experience and the extra push to pull you through,

The trials and tribulations,

That is set before a great nation.

But in the end it is because He lived,

And because He loved.

God wants us to see the good in everyone.

He wants them to never feel alone and always be loved.

So in the dead of the night,

Let’s let all our prayers take flight;

‘Asking forgiveness for the things we’ll do,

And the things we’ve done.

Asking for salvation and perseverance,

For the kid in the back of the room that thinks no one cares,

And to love and encourage each other.

To lift up the broken and ragged soul of another.’

Cause when evil thoughts grab your hands and feet,

We never know who will rise up and who will accept defeat.

We’ve all been that kid, we’ve been the pariah,

Who never knew if they’d be loved by the Messiah.

So broken, so lost, at one point we’ve all felt alone.

So please help others through the calm and through the storm.

Cause in the end we are all the same,

Searching for acceptation and preaching the message that He gave.

So let’s walk like He did, make other’s hearts feel warm.

Let’s be each other’s lights through the coming storm.
