Light Within Darkness
When the lights went out,
I was in doubt.
Would I see the other side?
Could I carry along my pride?
I'd sink into the depths of my covers
Frightened by the shifiting figures
Unsure of what would come
Out of the unknown
I'd close my eyes and coun the sheep
Hoping to see creatures of the deep
But the figures pestered - haunting me
I just wanted to be free.
I cried, I mumbled
I tossd, I turned
The darkness would not let me be
The darkness would not let me see.
I knew I had to end it
I knew I had end it
I plundged myself into the outer darkness
But stood my ground affirm
I imagined the light within me
Penetrating through the night.
I lifted my voice to say
"I have beat the fright!"
I have witnessed the power within
I have seen the mind
I no longer fear the night
I now stand with cheer
Once must have power in self
In order to overcome
Without that power to defeat
Vanquish will return.
