Lighter
LIGHTER
Woke up in the middle of the night
Looked out the window to stare at the light
Heavens a fantasy made up of cheer
I ask God "why did You put me here?"
Look in the past, I serve no purpose
Man, I don't even give out free service
But they say greed rules the whole world
Well if so, my green wont buy a girl
Thinking of circles, twirls and swirls
Ice cream, so white it's named pearls
Why is beauty oh so bright?
I like the dark, especially tonight
The inside counts, I mean right?
But I guess people will never learn, sigh
Expression of sadness or grief
My friends have my back till they all leave
And I'm all alone in a dim room
With a musty carpet, and an old broom
I should sweep away the dust like problems
Hide it under my bed won't solve them
Mom calls me special or unique
But that's just a name for the weak
I tweaked the game to be in my favor
Cheated just to get out of hard labor
Why am I different? I'm like all the rest
I have a mind and a heart in my chest
Plus my blood has the same exact flow
Not all raps are fast, this one shows
Nice guys go for all these bad chicks
Outside is silk, but with the inside of a brick
I want one with common sense
I'll be her prince, if she's my princess
And no this isn't a love song
It's the truth, cause you all got it wrong
Looked for the answers, all misleading
Like magazines preventing girls from eating
And somehow I made it this far, still breathing
Barely, sometimes I get nauseous
Begging to pass out, be unconscious
Sometimes I wish I didn't have a conscience
Right from wrong are obviously obvious
Look at this rap, like me unstable
Going off on this fable
Sometimes I just want to cut the cables
And end this whole entire program
Nothing good, like radio A.M.
But for all the love and mercy
There's something in me that keeps cursing
Bursting out with enthusiasm
It's not just you, nobody has them
What? But there was no question
Why? Crept on me just like depression
Remember 1929? That was its deepest
Millions cried, all so sleepless
History always repeats itself
Keep it in the book to stay on the shelf
And why don't I feel like everyone else?
I think I put my own self in a shelf
I try to laugh and keep on smiling
I stay happy from my rhyming
And no, not for the money
It's a hobby, I'm taken as funny
Yet this makes me feel so serious
Double persona, I'm delirious
Take a fresh breath of the air
Open your eyes and now you're there
Look at the sky as it gets brighter
Everything built on you, but you feel lighter
