Lighter

You were spilled gasoline and the smell of smoke:

An addiction I never wanted to feed.

Fire keeps burning my legs, leaving them hairless and unsure.

Pupils aligned and growing, shrinking, growing, shrinking.

I'm praying to a god that never cared for me,

Your voice the only one to ever answer.

My back aches every night. I hope I am growing wings.

You rip every feather dream from my thoughts and stuff them in your pillow.
