Lights of Love
As I took my last breath of sweet air, a warm hand touched mine.
A radiating face appeared in the sky, overlooking all of earth.
As my mind swirled as fast as it could, flashes of warm lights encompassed my body.
It beckoned me to answer a simple question…. What is love?
So as I lay there, I thought to the very beginning of my lifetime….
Love is the mother’s tender kiss or the father’s gentle caress;
Love is the growing of friendship and the sharing of laughter.
I think it is the safe haven that keeps out the things that hurt the most inside;
I think it is the looking glass that helps everyone arrive to clarity.
Perhaps love is the mellifluous and soft melody of nature’s creatures;
It is a hundred delicate hummingbirds flying away from the signs of winter;
It is the first bloom in springtime when the sun peeks out from the clouds ….
Comforting all it lays its eyes on.
It is one who cares about everything and everyone in the world;
It is one who spends every waking moment, thinking of new ways to spread happiness;
It is one whose true purpose on earth and whose true meaning is to make lives better.
I believe it is every reason, every hope, and every dream that blossoms into refreshing candor.
It is the unity of the universe…. of all mankind and of all creatures.
Although love may be one of the most complex feelings….it unravels with simplicity.
Laying here now, I realize, love is eternal life, so I closed my eyes forever…. undying and everlasting.
