The Lights of my Path

Expectations that I must meet but I can’t reach,

Have all these people counting on me to reach my peak

Has me working harder to seek a life that’s not a dream;

I guess that’s what really motivates me.

I know it won’t be easy

but I don’t want to see closed doors

I want to see a degree with my name for everyone to see,

Displaying my new reality.

And people are going to envy me for becoming the person they wanted to be

But it isn’t going to affect me from living a life of glee;

I guess that’s what really motivates me.

Even though the weight on my shoulders might get heavy

And the space in my heart might feel empty,

I know if I work whole-heartedly

I’ll get the outcome that was meant to be;

And that’s what’s really motivating me.
