Lillies
Lilies bloom in June
Blossoming from the milk of Hera
Chased by the rays of the summer sun
And tied to the ground where it grew
My Lily grew in January
The sun danced upon her cheeks
As she smiled at the world
Taking step after step
Stumbling and falling
Standing and swaying
She was strong and free
But independence was lonely
As she soaked up the pain
Every bottle and new pill
Was like candy on the counter
Freedom
Till it all ran out
And the voices got louder
Time spent with her head on my shoulder
Filled ridges with her tears
And my mouth poured over with boring stutters
I'm sorry
That sucks
Not making her feel any better
For the bees didn’t like her
Always attacked at her weakest
Piercing her skin
Till the ridges cut deeper
they bled on the counters
And all over the pages
Every last drop
Was old and faded
Engulfed in her envy
And the hatred she felt
Corrupted
Mistrusted
The lonely Lillie
Now drained
And discolored
Her fight now over
Oh the poor Lily flower
