Lily

Your eyes shine so bright and blue.

With precious skin soft and sweet,

Your tiny hands grip my hair,

And I can't help but to stare

At your innocents, uncorrupted

By all of the despair.

I scoop you up in my arms,

And rock you back and forth

Until your body drifts off

Into some dreamfilled sleep.

I hold you for a while longer,

Wishing for a brighter future.

I will do whatever it takes

To fill your life with all hope

And no hate. I promise,

I promise to protect you

From the world, so harsh and cruel.

You are my angel, my sweet

Little girl, and I want you to know

That I love you, and I always will.
