lime limerence

the lime squeezes releasing a taste it lingers in your mouth and stays for days the flavor is something you cannot describe mild at first but then turns to a "high" a sour ecstasy you could say a sweet reward at the end of your day but it soon turns to hours to minutes to seconds the feeling creeps up in your mouth: scratching, clawing, crawling back out it doesn't go away, you drink, you taste, you try other food but nothing can compare-- no other can come close you bear the simmer of lime as the juice hits your tongue how the slight spritz stings your eyes when it is cut you keep coming back this lime never did anything special it is just a lime after all simple and easy, just saying "hi" acknowledging itself for what it is knowing how to please the person it's with a slight whiff of its breeze a little tug at your cheek but from what you see, it's all you want it to be from sour to tangy to sweet you take it as a treat but when limes are out of season— when the lime is out of stock— you are left wondering if you are down on luck you start to go insane, craving something that isn't there you start to hear your heart in your chest, pounding, wanting that feeling of easy rest but you can't get it without the lime you can't live to see the time your brain goes numb from too much thought but sooner or later he comes back up that lime- so sweet then your mind begins to think was it the lime or was it your head was it great or mediocre at best was he being friendly and you took it too far but you will never know unless you analyze your lime shaped scar
