Lines
Deep, red, angry
Reminders
The raised lines on my hips
That are of my own making
These lines burn and pull
As I walk
As my muscles expand
And contract
The constant pain
My teather to reality
The one thing that keeps
Me from going insane
Words escaped me
These lines were all I had
A manifestation of
My internal struggle
I became another person
A stranger in my own skin
Unrecognizable in the mirror
I threw myself into
My work by day
And created more
Lines by night
A cry for help that
No one heard
But as time has passed
The lines have faded
From ugly, raised scars
To faded, white lines
A reminder of who I was
What I overcame
And where I'll never
Go back
My lines are not battle wounds
Merely a piece of my story
They have shaped me
Into the human I am today
Stronger than before
And better for it
