Lines ... satire

2 Samuel 18:18

18 Prior to this Absalom had set up a monument and dedicated it to himself in the King’s Valley, reasoning “I have no son who will carry on my name.” He named the monument after himself, and to this day it is known as Absalom’s Memorial.

Lines … satire

Draw a line to La-La land and make that your standard

Line it firmly with rubber bands and pave the surface with promise

Select a leader for the band and dress him up in flannel

To absorb the summer heat in preparation for the furnace

Wants and wishes lead the way on every sign in sight

Comfort easy available on the road leading to destruction

Let someone else just pay and take up every plight

As this will be memorable at judgment’s own induction

Life seems just a moving target in circles just beyond our reach

Empowered by bondage I move subjected to every tick and leach

Bloodsucking characters everywhere in the shadow to grab my throat

Long gone the queen of hearts to keep me here somehow afloat
