Lions
At night I dream of lions
I dream in reds and orange
I dream back and forth with my subconscious
We take turn rocking me in and out of sleep
We creep around my room
Build walls around myself
At night I dream of lions
We fight back and forth we argue and bite
At night I fight with lions
We lay sleepless on the floor
We drown in frustration
In pent up anger
In fire
In lava
We do not burn
The world has born us with chalis skin
We bark commands at each other
We move through the world as one whole
At night I dream of restlessness
I dream of sleep
And serenity
And the world feeds me lions
Feeds me burning rooms and tells me chew
Tells me shut my eyes
But I can’t sleep without my lions
Born us with wounds we can’t yet claim
At night I turn a lion
And fight will my greater self
We argue and spit
We jump and take turns burning
At night I wake up and as I wake the lion wakes
As I dream my lion dreams
The lion lives in my subconscious
