Lion's den
My family is like a pack of lions
Or what some people might call a pride.
When a cub is being cornered, they will protect and attack.
My family does exactly that.
No matter who it is, they protect their own.
In each pride, there is a pride king
To look over the pride. That pride king is my grandfather,
and below him is my father. My father is my grandfathers
right hand man in the pride. Unfortunately, each comes with its own set of rules
You can not wear makeup,
You can not wear anything short,
You can not wear anything revealing
You can not be around boys or they will
Corrupt you.
YOU CAN NOT BE YOURSELF.
We must show that we are the perfect family
because I… I mean we are the example family that
everyone should follow.
The pride king thinks he’s the world.
He thinks he is perfect because of what positions
he has in the church. He is also the pride king in
his church. We are forced to be perfect
because of the position he is in.
Sometimes I wonder what it is like to follow
the forbidden rules.
I want to be able to be myself
I remember i went off on the King
when he asked me to change from jeans to a skirt.
I asked him if he preaches when he works
At the construction site.
He answered yes
I asked him do you wear a suit when you do it
He answered with a no
Why does it matter what I wear when you
Do your job in dirty clothes.
I’ve never stood up against the king.
I’ve never talked back.
I was the good cub but I had to say something.
I was tired of being judge.
I was tired of putting on a fake face
I was tired of being part of the “ Perfect Family”
I left the pride
I left being labeled “perfect”
I left being labeled “ the example”
I’m being myself now
I get to do whatever I want
I’m my own pride.
