A List of Essentials

What makes us work?

It all fits in a shoe box.

A needle strung with black thread.

When we need to be stitched back together

But a scar to replace a wound

As a reminder

Sometimes love hurts,

A candle.

When we need our own world

For a haven of warmth

To coexist in

Sometimes love comforts,

A translating dictionary.

For when the language barrier

is too tall for me to see over

And you don’t have a ladder

Sometimes love misunderstands,

A large sea shell.

We can pass it back and forth

I’ll listen to your dreams

You listen to mine

Sometimes love listens

Sometimes love hurts

,but it also comforts.

Sometime love misunderstands

,but it also listens

And because I love you

I will keep my shoe box near.

Always
