Listen

Above the noise above the static

the clamor, the racket, the climatic

Roar of silence.

No one listens, no one cares

Everyone hears but only stares

How hard could it possibly be

to have someone listen to me?

It seems a task impossible to ask

or tell to anyone but a flask

Nonetheless I'll be the one

to listen when all trust is gone

My role feels small, if even there

yet still I know this is only my burden to bear

If no one else, then I alone

will listen to those whose hope is overgrown
