Listen Dear

Listen dear and you will know my inner thoughts and feelings

Listen dear and you will know I am slowly healing

Ears are important, they let the mind hear

But hearing is not listening, that’s quite different, dear

You can hear what I say but that does not mean you understand

Only by listening is that achieved, otherwise you can’t

Listen dear I am a loud happy-go-lucky girl

Listen dear there is more to me; I live in a dark world

Writing gives me courage, courage to be heard

And those who read it hear it, they listen to every word

The world knows me as happy but that is not all I am

I can be dark and sinister or innocent as a lamb

Listen dear words my favorite weapon be

Listen dear words are my favorite remedy

I write things I cannot say, it provides me with relief

I read things that provide escape, and take away the grief

I am healing slowly but as fast as I can

And everything holding be back, all those things be damned

Listen dear I know not of what the future holds

Listen dear writing is my way of being bold

Did you hear that dear? Did you listen to what I said?

Writing is how I make sense of the thoughts in my head

I am a strange person, I am weird, it’s true

But writing is who I am, it’s what I do

Listen dear and you will know my inner thoughts and feelings

Listen dear and you will know I am truly healing
