Listen With Your Heart
1. As you listen, open your mind and ears, and close your eyes, picture this:
2. A teenage girl, coming up in the world.
3. Making friends, memories and even getting a few glances her way.
4. She knows what she wants and has the confidence to be herself and knows what to say.
5. She starts her first job and is ready to make money, and save to get her out of this town.
6. She has everything planned out: college, traveling, her life, no one is stopping her now.
7. But with the way life works her plans get put on hold for a while.
8. This girl that once was happy, hopeful, and optimistic has now lost her beautiful smile.
9. She thinks she is not pretty anymore nor is she confident, she’s scared.
10. Her head was under water and she was drowning, but it’s not like anyone cared.
11. She tried to reach out but no one gave her the time of day
12. They only saw her face, gave her pity and never attempting to hear what she had to say.
13. She knew she had to do something or she would lose to the darkness.
14. Little did she know, she would depend on someone so heartless.
15. She craved for normalcy, to feel complete once again.
16. A new boyfriend that smelled her weakness, was obsessed and made his way in.
17. He knew that he could have a hold on her and took advantage of her vulnerability.
18. Made her believe every word and that he was her tranquility.
19. Out of desperation to be whole once again she let him into her soul
20. Instead of fixing her, he took control.
21. She ate up every compliment, never minding his behavior.
22. He was so good at manipulation she believed in her bad times he was her savior.
23. Because of that she always excused the abuse that had occurred
24. Never physical, but emotional and mental, and she remembers every word.
25. He has branded her as his and made her believe no one can handle the mess she had become
26. No one but the guy who was turning out to be scum.
27. Well life is back to throw some curve balls into play
28. But with life isn’t that always the way?
29. Remember this broken girl is only a teen, now having to grow up faster than ever before
30. To be responsible not for just herself but the child she will soon adore.
31. She is scared once again and trying to figure out her next move to play
32. How is she to raise a baby with her life and nothing going her way?
33. To go on for her child she tries to leave him to get some air and think straight
34. But no matter what, she lets him back in. She always takes the bait.
35. Losing weight, her boyfriend, herself, her dignity
36. He does as he pleases and she forgives way too easily.
37. She’s a people pleaser and tries doing right by her child, boyfriend and family
38. But no one knows her true self and the darkness taking over her sanity.
39. There’s a war that has been going on since the very beginning
40. With the way things have been going she’s not sure about winning.
41. She’s completely broken and not one person truly knows
42. She doesn’t want to burden others’ lives with her woes.
43. People always say they see her smiling all the time and in such great spirits
44. In reality she’s silently screaming for help but has gotten good at altering her appearance.
45. Demons in her mind constantly reminding her she isn’t enough, to trust no one, and fear the unknown
46. Questioning her choices and although not suicidal she questions her existence when all alone
47. Now she needs people and desperately relies on others to be there
48. Someone to be her crutch while she is hurting and to truthfully care
49. She worries and stresses she is too messed up for anyone to want to stand by her side
50. To walk her through the darkness and be there throughout this terrible ride
51. Hearing if she wasn’t so messed up and sad she would be worth it all
52. That was a stab right into her broken heart, and she knew she was going to fall.
53. She did but she wanted some help and get out of this awful world that has swallowed her in
54. So she got away from him and everything and was able to start over she was ready to begin
55. Inhaling the good and exhaling the bad she found her biggest problem was not what she had thought
56. It was never her anxiety or her depression that she fought
57. No it was her mindset and the person she desperately wanted to be before.
58. Before the accident, pregnancy, and PTSD, that person is who she wanted to be nothing more
59. The one who never had to worry about the darkness, responsibility, or the pain she endured
60. She thought if she was that girl from before all of her problems would be cured.
61. That person has never had to deal with these problems and would never know what to do
62. That’s why she died long ago and this new person shined through.
63. This girl has grown and changed her mindset completely to be stronger for what the future throws
64. She can look herself in the mirror and know her worth because of the path she had chose.
65. She is able to finally forgive and thank him for destroying who she was before
66. She can smile and be happy for him and pray he will achieve more
67. She is a true selfless human being to hurt like that and still have a heart that’s pure
68. She is stronger and will go on that’s definitely for sure
69. With a crooked smile on her face, love and the beat of her own drum in her heart
70. And the Strength in her soul, in this new chapter she is ready to start.
71. Now take in what you heard, open your eyes and see
72. While listening with your heart, did you happen to picture me?
