Listened
I finally listened
Today when I was
Wide awake in my
Bed and your name,
Your image came
Into my mind
Unannounced yet
Expected in a
Hauntingly familiar way
I have been standing
Here in time wasting
For what has felt like
An eternity
It was as if the image
Of you in my head
Was calling for me
To call on you
I didn’t
I flipped through
Mind’s pages to what
Once was the beacon
Of light within the
Confines of my
Little black book
Doing what I know
Best
Slashed line red
An all too familiar
Sight
No blood this time
Able to strike the
Name, the
Seven numbers which
Used to feel like home
Upon their being dialed
All a distant memory now
For story books and poems
I finally listened
You won’t be hearing
From me
Have fun on your
Island of make believe
Friends and heartache
For if you ever
Know more
You’ll wish
That I had never
Listened.
