Listening like Brooke

Her ears have never heard a word,

Her feet can't jump into the leaves,

The view from her wheelchair isn't so pretty,

But Brooke's heart listens.

She doesn't think the same way I do,

The world can call her a freak,

She can't say so many words,

But Brooke's heart listens.

My ears hear anger and violence,

My lips speak war and poverty,

My view of the world isn't so pretty,

But Brooke has shown better to me.

Brooke's smile works just fine,

Her eyes light up the room,

She doesn't need three man-made words

to tell me "I love you".

Yes, Brooke is different.

But she's better than the rest.

She listens and loves with her heart and soul.

She puts an 'advanced' world to shame.
