Listening for the longing

Tue, 10/30/2012 - 21:28 -- cm1398

The words fall
Calmly
Yet sharply
Gracefully
Yet cruelly
Razors clothed in a hushed, quiet tone
Yet, maybe, there could be
A hint of longing,
That lingers for me
A hint of sorrow
Not just loneliness
A hint of love
Not just neediness
I listen closely
And hang on each word
Listening for the longing
Just to feel less absurd
I listen closely
So that I might see
My own feelings
Staring back at me
I might listen in vain and yet
I’ll listen for the longing
Until my own decides to quit.

Hey, so I really like this main phrase "listening for the longing" and based the poem off it but I don't think the poem ends well. If you have any thoughts, let me know.
