Listening to the Rain
I sit listening to the rain
heartache that’s hard to see
droplets roll down the glass
like pieces inside of me
drop, drop, drip
no particular pattern,
no true given pace;
my one true wanting
wishing to see your face
drop, drip, drop
racing to the windowpane
breaking as they slide down
the distance tearing us apart
slowly, steadily, without a sound
drip, drop, drop
I sit listening to the rain
heartache that’s hard to see
droplets reach their destination
wondering if you’re missing me
