Listless

What is it we share

When my words

Land flat

And your eyes glaze over

Into a practiced blank

Pathetic attempt to change direction

My own empty spaces

I fill with words

Those same you choose to hide

But we are not so different

You and I

At least, that is my hope

What I cling to

For lack of assumption

Should I presume

And fabricate

What was not shared

You to me

Become my own creation

Too concrete for reality

This baseless opinion of mine

Dangerous

If used against you

under guise of good intent

To do so

I become myself

An endless echo

Of your parents

Friends and teachers

Childhood enemies

Those with one faith

Who place it outside themselves

And force on you the same

I will not be your bastard god

Will not blind my faith in you

You are at liberty to speak
