Little Amy
I’m not your hero, I’m not your lover
I’m not your sister, I’m not your mother.
I’m just a friend across the world
Behind a screen with only my words.
I can’t stop your pain
I can’t heal your wounds
I can’t fight for you.
I’m not your sword, nor your shield
I am your friend to pick you up when you are knocked down
I want to do more
I want to help
But I am a friend across the world
My hands are tied just like yours
My voice is quieted by your screams
My words can’t help
When you are hit
I want to be your hero, your sister
I want to be your guardian angel
But my wings have been clipped
My sword dulled
This fight is yours.
When you lose the fight
I pick you up
When the fight is over
The war isn’t
When the next battle starts,
I will be there when you fall again
Little sibling dressed in black
I wish to give you your confidence back
It is stolen every time
That’s almost as heinous as the crime
Committed to you every day
Why do parents never stay away?
