Little Bird
Little bird, little bird
All caged up
Sick and tired of trying to be tough
But still she hides, then she tries, she fights to lift her wings up
She faces her fears, but her feathers get plucked
She falls
Tumbling down, to the bare, flat ground
Blends in with the rest of the flock who like her got shot down
She starts to believe every word tossed down to their cold world just like all the other birds
You will never fly
You are worthless
Swooped up by the Savior's arm
Seeking shelter behind the bars
But they don't hide the scars
The bruises from past abuse and excuses
But there's a heat under her breast
She will never give up
A voice tells her that she will fly
Even if she continues to slice and cut
She will feel the air beneath her wings, no pain
But she won't bail
She keeps climbing and falling everyday
And no matter what they try to take away
She is free
She may be scared
But her promise is to carry on
