Little Bird, Shackled but Free
I am the sparrow, perched beneath the redwood
Observing, whirling through dimensions
I am the mother chanting to a pouting newborn
Tugging at my hair, letting my sanity sail on ahead of me
I am the fat cardinal crunching through fresh fallen leaves
My curiosity escorting me along the dirt path
I am the student scrawling notes in my book
Gawking blankly at my lecturing teacher
I am the eagle ascending the clouds majestically
No worries tying me down
I am the daughter striving to be the ultimate offspring
Plummeting, twisting my bruised ankles with each new step
I am the sullen crow sitting on a deceased spinster's gravestone
Envisioning the body that this corpse once walked the streets with
I am the friend struggling to juggle one pal with another
Engulfed in overwhelming guilt over my lack of contact
I am Harleigh, nosediving into adulthood sans parachute
Making strides, losing lives
Shadowing my heart, my guide
