Little Flier
I was called one day
To join with another on a journey.
We descended into the great wood vessel
And waited.
After long length a pitter patter began
Then it became a torrent,
Soon after our vessel lifted
Swaying and shifting on ever moving ground.
One day passed
Then two, then three
More and more till I was set free.
Free from the never ending noise of deluge,
Free from the confines of our ark.
I flew away but found nowhere to rest
And returned to the craft where I’d been called.
Again I left and flew around
No place to stop that I could see
Once more I was released
This time out into a soft spring breeze.
I soared and roamed until I found it.
A branch of green on a large island.
I brought it back to a man on board
My friend came with me
To find a place
For a little flier to join our race
A streak of color filled the sky
Promising to never again have a plethora of water
Cover the land and take our lives.
