little girl, Big Bears

She used to play with animals

the small ones on her bed

they would dance around

and sing

and run

she made it up in her head.

But then there came a day

where makeup and clothes overtook

the brain of a now teenage girl

they tried not to look.

And then she became a highschooler

and was embarrased about the bears

so she hid them in her closet shelfs

her friends could not find them there

Before she could think she was then about to graduate

she was filled with dispair

and one night when she went to bed

she grabbed all those old raggidy teddy bears

she realized she had wished for so long

that she could finally grow up

so that she could drive a car and date

that she forgot to enjoy her young things

that she wanted more today

the bears were happy to be seen

although at heart they knew

that in a few minutes it would be time

to be given to someone new.

they would grin and bear it

keep their smile

but never let that little girl go
