Little Lamb Lost

Depression is an old toy lamb that has lost its fluff and been abandoned.

Pale yellow fur that smells like an attic, musty and dry.

A bell that clunks instead of chiming,

The bitter taste of a sweet childhood that was misappropriated,

The blue eyes that stare but see nothing unless they are closed,

Innocent eyes that taste your soul and pierce your heart.

The cheerful sky lark that sings afuneral dirge as

The little lamb seeks its mother in yet another blizzard.

Note:

This poem was orignially part of a "20 LittlePoetry Projects" project, but I have edited it quite a bit. Still, "20 Little Poetry Projects" is an interesting place to begin.
