The Little Mermaid Scam

Ariel witnessed a celebration for a young prince on a boat

She thought the feeling inside was love

But the love felt was in reality a hoax

She longed for knowledge

She longed for power

She longed for an endless celebration

But mostly, she longed to help her family

She knew no prince of any land could love water-woman

So she formulated a plan including the perfect solution

To be civilized, intelligent, literate

The mermaid begged and pleed to be a land wonderer to the witch of the sea

In result the ultimate scam was composed

The witch granted Ariel legs in exchange for a fictitious love

And the next day the swindler mermaid emerged from the water

Casting her love spells upon the prince and showing passion

The prince quickly became blinded by love

The date was set shortly after

The celebration lasted only a short amount of time

She chose an extragant ring

With her plans working perfectly

She became a theif in the night

Leaving the prince to nothing but heartbreak and despair

Ariel moved lands away

Attending universities

Studying marine biology

Learning as much as she can to perfect her birthplace

Years speed by the college student

Graduation grows closer

The excitement of returning home many years later filled her heart with joy

The time to receive her diploma arrives

She sprints across the stage filled with celebration

Filled with all the knowlegde about the ocean, she is ready to be home

The time spent traveling back into the sea

Was spent thinking about her family

But as Ariel reaches the beach leading into her birthplace

She realizes she cannot swim

She realizes she cannot breathe without the help of air

She realizes the witch gave her legs for love

She realizes because of her desire for education, she has lost her family

The man who loved her enough to spend the rest of his life with her is now gone

The man is happily married

The man has beautiful children

The man is gone

Ariel thought knowledge would help her family

But instead, knowledge took away her family
