Little Monsters

Trying to sleep in your bed on this night

An endeavor not worth undertaking.

For creatures are waiting to give you a fright

A hilarious joke in the making.

You whine and complain and cry as you might,

But these monsters with laughter are shaking.

You climb out of your bunk, yell “Go back to bed!”

Until they to their rooms in terror have fled.

Now there’s peace and quiet, not too much to ask

But you see to the side a hideous beast

With a mind determined and set to the task

You creep from bed curiosity increased

But his visage you see is only a mask

You remove it with care, his laughter has ceased

As you catch the sight, you take a step back

For you see that it’s only your brother, Jack
