Little Rays
This school year I had to juggle school, drama club, FFA, but this poem describes how much of a stress reliever it is to nanny after school each day.
*********
Brick walls are all I see
35
For each week
But for short
I get to see
2 little rays
That make my week
One who loves to dance
Skip around
And scream
The other much more quiet
Preferring to talk
Or read
True,
They drain away
All the energy I have left
But they need a bit more
Even so after that
They see a bit of hurt
Of anger
Of rage
Then they take it and run
To lock it away
But they aren't thieves
They give back equal to steal
In a different form than before
They give back in smiles
In laughs
And in hugs
Showing me happiness
Not from greed
Or selfish wants
No, only from joy
Bringing peace
To each day
True,
It may be for only a bit
But that's really all I need
Just give me some time
With those two little rays
