The Little Things

It's the little things that frenzy within my mind. And it's not just one little thing. Or seven. No. It's all of them. All at once. And all of the time.
And I'm totally and completely into it.

It's the little things that matter.
You know the ones I'm talking about.

The smell of the air during the first 30 minutes of rainfall.
The relief of clocking out after a late night at work knowing you have the next 2 days off to be productive (or not...whatever).
The moment you burn the ever-living shit out of your tongue on the first sip of your morning coffee. And then shake your head at your over-zealous moment of cosmic stupidity.
And the subtle eye contact with a loved one during which your heart laments, "if only I knew how to express just how much I fucking love you."

It's the feeling of climbing between clean sheets after a hot shower.
The jarring bitterness of that initial drag off your morning cigarette.
It's the comforting silence between friends after having talked for hours.
The agitated and crackling screams of the last smoldering campfire log that warn crisp mornings linger ahead and that shorter days will soon kiss the horizon. The explosive pops that threaten the weird thought of potentially having to sleep with your socks on (yikes).

It's the goddamned last dandelion!

Oh. And it's definitely the feeling of my stomach fluttering with butterflies, the fact that I still get "schoolgirl-excited" to see you, and my heart pounds faster and harder for you everyday. Even now, after nearly 2 years of loving you.

It's the little things that make the world make sense. The seemingly trivial moments from childhood that have come to form the foundation of our souls.

It's the little things that matter.
You know the ones I'm talking about.

Because, well fucking think about it.
It's just the little things.
