Little Things

The world revolves,

Round and round,

Round and round.

Everything passes by in a blur

Of color,

Of sound,

Of touch.

Blink and it’s missed.

Never to happen twice.

So vibrant,

So fast.

Why can’t we slow?

For just a minute?

The little things slide by,

Unnoticed,

Unappreciated.

When things begin to blur,

Melt together,

When things become too much

And I find myself rubbing my temples,

My neck,

My stress away,

I write.

I let my world slow

Down

Down

Down.

Until I notice the little things,

The colors in the leaves,

The whisper of the wind

Through my hair,

Across my cheeks.

I notice,

I de-stress,

I remember,

I appreciate,

I write.
