The Little Things
It's the little things that make us who we are.
Like the way a person can fully trust the driver,
but still hold on to the handle at every turn simply because they are cautious.
Or it's the way you talk to your pets in funny voices,
because it seems like the thing to do.
Or how you tell the same stories to the same people,
Not because you forgot, but because you don't remember.
Sometimes it's the way we look at other people,
Maybe it's how we try to find the fire in them,
Maybe we already have and are just checking to make sure it hasn't burnt out.
It's the truths we never told
and the promises we broke.
I think it starts with the way you hold someones hand.
There isn't a back story and the beautiful part is,
There doesn't need to be.
