The Little Things
It's all in the little things
It's all in the lies we tell ourselves
Tomorrow will be better
Tomorrow, I'll be stronger
It's in the way we fall apart and
Piece ourselves back together
It's in the way we walk
Hunched shoulders
No eye contact
One foot in front of the other
One step from out of line
One step from too close or too far
It's all in the little things
Staying up just a little too long
Laces tied just a little too tight
Invisible burdens just a little too much
Sometimes it's just not enough
It's the little things that break us
Like waves on cliffs
One drop of water at a time
One foot in front of the other
One step from out of line
It's all in the little things
It's all in the promises we tell ourselves
Tomorrow will be better
Tomorrow, I'll be stronger
It's in dandelion wishes
Decorating the front porch
Spare change caught in your pocket
Something clearer about the blue sky
It's in the way we walk
One foot in front of the other
One step ahead of sorrow
One step from a new tomorrow
A laugh, a small smile
Just for a little while
Sometimes it's just enough
Sometimes it's the little things
That really build us up
It's all in the little things
That makes us or breaks us
One foot in front of the other
Bringing us closer and closer
It's all in the little things
