Little Things

Loving me

is holding late night conversations when

neither of us are comprehensible,

or driving

an hour out of the way to visit.

Spending starry nights parked

in a field watching summer

draw out its days.

Loving me

is letting me know

you got home safe, or

reminding me a million times

to drink water because

you know I get dizzy

without it.

Late nights spent in the diner,

trying every odd food we could think of,

wanting you to taste

adventure.

Loving you

is easy. But

it’s not always fun, I know.

We get sick, we get mad, we get

tired. Exhausted, I know.

And it’s hard

to show that

I love you then.

But I do.
