Live Free
I want to be an astronaut.
I want to graduate high school.
I want to live on my own, but I want to live where I know if I needed my mom she could drive slow and still be early.
I want to make someone’s day a little brighter.
I want people to look at me, knowing I’ve been through a lot, and say ‘wow, she’s a fighter’.
I want to understand life. I want to know exactly how many babies are born, and how many lives have been worn, and if there really is a god, cause if there is, I want to thank him.
I want to go to the beach. I want to build a sandcastle with a little girl because to me it’s just wet sand being held together by impact, but to her she’s a princess and that’s her world.
I want to be free. I want to live for the moment and catch whatever life throws my way. Because today, I will prepare and someday my chance will come. At least that’s what Abraham Lincoln said and as some shook their head, he didn’t care. He changed America and now he forever sits in that stone chair never to be forgotten.
I want to speak my mind. Because when you do what you fear most, then you can do anything. And once I am heard, I will no longer be this flightless bird having nowhere to go, but I will find my wings, and I will share those things, because that’s what I learned to do in the first grade.
I want my dad to know that he is my hero. Dad, you have always supported me and loved me even though at times I know I have made you feel like a zero. You have always pushed me to be the best I can be and if it weren’t for you, who else would I go to because you’re Johnny and I’m June and we’re going to Jackson and we ain’t ever comin’ back.
I want to break a heart. Or even a few because it takes a lot to hurt a man and if his heart does shatter into a million pieces maybe he truly did love me and that’s what really matters because learning how love and be loved in return is the greatest thing you can ever learn. According to Mulon Rouge anyways. But according to me, you gotta learn how to love who you are before you wish on that star that the boy who sits next to you in math will notice you.
I want to tell my mom not to be sad that my dad is my hero because there is no word in the English language that can express how much I love you. Mom, you have seen every side of me, Jekel and Hyde, and every time I have put you down you always seem to brush it aside, but I know that because of me you have cried. You were there from the start, and that time I thought my life was over when that boy broke my heart you hugged me and I realized that my life isn’t over as long as I still have you.
But what I really want? I just want to get up at the crack of dawn. And take nothing for granted, because the saying really is true- you never really know what you’ve got until it’s gone.
