Windows locked Doors slammed Little girls sobbing Mothers crying Fight back The brothers are attempting He is too strong They call the cops They never come Girls pushed outside for protection, Walking to the neighbor's house The last she recalls is him shouting, "NO! DON'T! There's a bomb!" There was no bomb, it was just fog. Tears filling their eyes They hear the siren All they see are blurs of red and blue The 1 year old is left inside the neighbors house But the oldest girl runs out just in time to shout, ""I love you dad, I forgive you Please come back one day I'll be waiting. I know this isn't you. Just remember forever and ever you are My daddy!" She runs to hug him one more time But she is too late The handcuffs on, he is in the car The girls return to their house, about to be embraced She hands the baby over and runs To her room, eyes red from all of the crying, She locks the door, Curls into a ball, and starts sobbing. Later on, the tears stop and she can't Take the hugging and reassuring words She goes out running at 12 p.m. Only to return at dusk A 10 year old girl can't escape the fate that Is to fall . . . The girl, now 13 years old, Has sworn herself to silence Reads a lot to escape this world, Thoughts of death, but not of hers She wants to scream but cannot Her dad returns 2 times But never sees her because he Was kicked out by her mother. He lives in the ghetto, His mom paying the bills She won't stop because she doesn't Want to lose him . . . When the girl is now 14 Her father calls the house She answers the phone And recognizes his voice. . . She starts sobbing He is still talking He says he is leaving Tennessee To tell them all he loves them He says he has to go She screams, "Please, NO!" He hangs up and she relays the message The family say they hate him All except for her, she can't believe they said that and She fights back "He loves you and he wouldn't have Done that normally, and you know that! Get over yourselves!" He leaves the state He is in D.C. He calls again, her grandma answers She won't let the 14 year old talk or even listen The girl runs out, the breeze in her Hair, she contemplates running But she is too scared. She goes back home, the phone call has ended. He doesn't call again . . . But she has never forgotten. She falls into depression And soon is trying to find ways to escape . . . 15 years old and she has tried to Cut, She hates the pain but loves the hurt. She has told no one She never planned to But she quit the slicing And looked for other escapes. She thought of none, until one day, One found her . . . The Smoky hues of grass Burnt through The feeling of happiness it gave her That she only felt when she was little. The euphoric feeling made Her smile. She loved life for those Few minutes. She had found her Saving Grace. It helped her out for a long time, Until the day she heard the Phone ring. She answered the phone thinking it Was her mom . . . She was surprised when she heard His voice, he said, "hello." She freaked and said, "Pass the Joint! NOW!" Her dad freaked and said, "Don't ever do that stuff! It made me like I was Five years ago." She asked him what he was Talking about And he said, "Your mother may have told you, But I don't know . . . I went 'crazy' because of Using drugs. Don't make my mistakes, you know how It effects other people. You are my little girl and I Don't want you hurt. Please Stop . . . for me and I will help You through it. I won't tell your mother. Just stop forever." She paused and was silent He asked if she was there . . . She breathed in and answered with a shaky voice, "Daddy, I am here and I will stop for you. I am sorry I freaked. I got rid of the Green and the moon." She dropped the joint, poured out the moonshine. They exchanged goodbyes. She quit for good. Her heart still hurts But it is healing now She will be fine She isn't freaking Fire and Ice Good and Bad Angels and Demons Addictions being battled Almost saying yes, but instead saying, "NO!" She has made bad choices, now trying to make Some good. All the temptation, all the hurt. Now, even without the herbs, She is feeling fine. No matter what, she won't give in and Will NEVER give up! She's living her life She hasn't stopped. It is still going and she won't ever give it up. Her dad still calls, it has been years since then, And, now, she isn't scared . . . She has found the one she loves They are engaged She won't screw up her family's Future, She won't let her past effect her. LIVE FREE OR DIE!
