Living
I live for moments of laughter.
For the happy expression on my dog's face when I come home.
For the warm embrace of my mother's hug.
For the mutual understanding between my father and I.
For my sister who's also my best friend.
For friends who know me so well it surprises me every day.
I live for long conversations about anything and everything.
For leisurely walks across campus.
For sitting at my favorite place and memorizing the space around me.
For time that stands still unexpectedly.
I live for music.
For songs that tell a story and express how I feel.
For my feel better playlist that lifts me up when I have a bad day.
For the songs I can belt out in my car and not care who sees me.
I live for books and movies.
For all the stories that feed my hopes and dreams.
For the places they take me to forget about reality.
For not wanting the story to end so I don't have to put the book down.
I live for afternoon naps.
For curling up in soft blankets,
And resting my eyes for just a little while.
For the warmth of my bed and the comfort that surrounds me.
I live for new experiences.
For trying foods I haven't tasted before.
For listening to songs that aren't well known.
For going to museums and learning more about the world around me.
I live for the future.
For my hopes and dreams that drive me.
For knowing that someday things will be better.
For remembering that what I do today affects what happens tomorrow.
I live for myself.
For staying true to my beliefs
But being open to other's opinions.
For the happiness I feel when I succeed and the lessons I learn when I don't.
For not giving up even when the odds aren't in my favor.
For letting go of what's hurt me,
And being strong enough to hold my head up high.
For knowing that I control my destiny and not letting others stand in my way.
I live for me.
