Living
I guess it would be rash to say I couldn't live without him,
Because surely my heart would still beat,
But I wouldn't call a life without him-
Living.
People have come and gone my whole life,
But most of them have just gone,
Until one day the tall boy with green eyes,
Taught me what I didn't know.
I would not say he's my crutch,
That I only love myself because he loves me,
But he simply was a teacher,
In a lesson about accepting who I am.
It feels as if love is a joke to the world,
But with him I know it's not,
He never gives up on us,
He throws away our generation’s doubts.
He's nowhere near perfect,
And good because neither am I,
Love is two imperfect people,
Accepting each other despite it all.
My past full of abuse and depression,
He's gentle with me knowing all this,
Never showing me pity,
Simply reminding me it'll all be okay.
He's my buoy when I'm sinking,
He's the warmth in the summer sun,
He's the future that I day-dream,
The reason I again believe in love.
Already today he's 1,000 miles away from me,
Roads have become bottomless pits,
And states have became walls,
Months start and end without him here.
Barely making it through 60 days,
Without him at my side,
It is enough to bring me down,
I cannot imagine infinity days.
My heart is a growing flower,
Nourished by his endless love,
Cut off my supply of sunlight and water,
And I would never be the same.
I guess it would be rash to say I couldn't live without him,
Because surely my heart would still beat,
But I wouldn't call a life without him-
Living.
