Living with an Alcholic

I met her when I was in sixth grade

She was happy

She became my step-mom

After 3 years, she fell into a depression

She turned to alcohol

It started with a drink a drink or two

Then started to become worse

She drank when she woke up till she passed out.

I tried to help.

It became worse.

I had to pick her up when she fell.

My dad became distant.

I had to stay strong for him.

Fake smiled all last year.

Never told anyone.

He gave her a choice

the choice between a family or alcohol.

She made the wrong choice.

Their getting a divorce

She wound up in the hospital,

stage 2 alcoholic liver disease and pancreatitis.

I don’t know what happened to her.

We both tried to get her to stop.

Why did she cause us this pain?

Did she know what she was doing?

What did we do wrong?

My dad moved on after 2 months.

I think he’s happy now.

At least I hope so.

This shouldn’t have happened.

Me
My family
