Living in My Skin

Springy dark brown and black coils bouncing in the wind

Softer and fluffier  than any pillow

Performing the duty of crowns sitting on top of the perfect mixtures of brown

The host shades of chocolate varying from dark to light

Diversity and uniqueness creating a different element of beauty

Ranging for from twig to biggest booty brings power and unity

Emerged in such an enriched culture birthing individuals shaping a nation

Creating new rhythm and rhymes usually miss understood but it’s all good

The need for success produces habit of performing hard work

Pride shooting up from its roots sprouting into a tall tree

Many unchosen ones discriminating especially ones that are often imitating

But someone once said imitation is the greatest form of flattery

Treated like some secret society but really we’re openly trying to express ourselves freely

I love being black if you didn’t get it
