Living with One

Left wing controlling the height,

right wing regulating the speed,

born left and right together in flight,

a bonny blue bird they lead.

But a dilemma will arise,

when the left finds a new place,

flapping alone into the skies,

leaving nothing but feathers in it’s space.

Unable to fly the poor grounded blue Jay,

looks to the sky in dismay,

what happened to it’s beloved friend,

who abandoned their job to ascend?

Alas to be both, the right flails,

an inch above it manages to scales,

a small victory to begin,

but soon after in the sky they spin.

But on a night after the light subsides,

the left and the Jay manage to meet,

when the left offers to reclaim it’s rights,

a wing the Jay will no longer want nor need.
