Living Room
Can you stop saying that so much? The words are starting to fumble out of your mouth.
I'm around you everyday, yet everytime we lock eyes the space between and around us always comes to a stand still.
What happened?
You were lively, active and more importantly kind.
Now you pretend like you don't even know me.
Today, I sat down in the middle of the highway and thought about you.
I guess that shows you much I rather stop breathing than to be without you.
Ironic, isn't it?
Now I think I finally got your attention.
I remember when you would always catch mine.
...and I left the TV on too long.
There was a heat wave the day after, it was december 23rd.
The next day the wedding ring came off.
The next day the christmas tree was on the floor.
Santa skipped my house again.
I even left him a glass of whiskey, and some powdered sugar.
Too bad he isn't real.
Like the love between my parents, who decided that vases were more effective than snowballs.
They shattered just like their marriage.
That day, my mother wrapped her christmas present around my neck.
There goes that irony again.
Five years years later, I brought a girl around you.
I'm sorry if it made you jealous.
I understand why you would be.
I know what it feels like to not get the attention you think you deserve.
I didnt last long with her anyway, I started to say "I love you." so much it lost its meaning.
The words fumbled out of my mouth like my tongue was being squeezed out of a meat grinder.
We fought with our teeth for a couple weeks until mine started to chatter occasionally.
We sounded a lot like my parents.
I assumed that's why you began to lay dormant.
Because you loved me, and you didnt want me to end up like them.
I'm glad.
This time, I'll move to the kitchen.
