Living Through my Days
Masking my depression with happiness
Just to show everybody that I’m no less
And I just want to fit in with the rest
Everyday I wake up hoping to feel purpose
Just to feel that pit of emptiness
And I feel I do want to do something different
But always end up with the same opponent
The one I that I know just won’t quit
Kicking me down
Eating my time
When I lay down I feel like I’m going to drown
In the path that life has given to me
I just want to live a life that sets me free
People telling me what I can and can’t do
Knowing everything that they say ends up true
If only I could stack up against their misconceptions
And show everybody that I am only human
And I do know that I joke a lot
It’s just the way I use to block out
All those feelings that are inside of me
Those feelings that seem to want to control me
Never showing my true colors for those to see
What’s truly going on inside of me
I tell myself it’s time to put on my strait face
But always fall back into the same place
The safe place between my hopes and fears
Hoping that everyday ends up clear
Of the darkness, of that fear
That has been buried deep inside my years
Patiently waiting for its opportunity
to kick through my wall of immunity,
Leaving me with just enough will
To go on, and love life still
