Lizard Dreams
Dreams decline the offer to dance.
Like lizards they dart in and out of sight,
flicking their tongues,
flirting amid the shadows.
But, if you happen to latch on,
a bit of their tail will break off in your fingers,
mocking you with its smallness,
a strange reminder
of something that tangoed away
and turned to dust as the morning came.
