Limbo

CC BY-ND
I love when you take naps and I just sit there on call waiting for your return Every so often you'll move and I'll hear the muffled sounds of you exhaling For that is the one time where I feel free enough to tell you how I really feel To tell you that I feel nothing For the pain you've put me through has created this person I don't recognize in the mirror anymore So what am I doing sitting here waiting for your return Sitting here waiting for you to say the words that fill me with anything but this nothingness For I feel like the pain you inflict onto me is better than the pain I feel in your absence I feel like some sick part of me holds onto it Like if i hold on tight enough I can resurface what you once felt for me I tell myself a little longer and it will all pay off But it never does You wake up I pretend like nothing was said And we go back into this limbo Where both of us stay just close enough to feel the pain bleeding from each other But far enough to the one that closes the wound
